Hartford, Vermont

Hartford, Vermont is located at the center of the Upper Valley with the intersections of Interstate 89 (East & West) and Interstate 91 (North & South) as well as the point at which the White River flows into and becomes part of the Connecticut River.

Hartford has a diverse residential and commercial history producing at times chairs, tools, lumber, carriages and textiles. Today the hillside farms are few and far between with most of the land becoming residential properties. Hartford Village is on the National Registry as a Historic District.

Hartford has a population base of just over 10,000 and is made up of five villages; Hartford, White River Junction, Quechee, West Hartford and Wilder. Hartford has its own school system educating grades K-5 at three elementary schools, grade 6-8 middle school, grade 9-12 high school as well as a Career & Technical Center available to grades 11-12.

White River Junction is the major business district of Hartford and is the home of Northern Stage Theater, Amtrak Rail System, The Coolidge Hotel and a wide variety of hotels and motels to meet the needs of all travelers.
