The town of Thetford, Vermont is located in Orange County along the Connecticut River. The town of 2,600 residents is made up of the villages of East Thetford, North Thetford, Thetford Hill, Thetford Center, Rices Mills and Post Mills. The village of Post Mills is home to a small private airport that is available for public use, as well as a major launching point for hot air balloons.
Children in grades K - 6 attend Thetford Elementary School. Thetford Academy, chartered in 1819 is the oldest private secondary school in Vermont. It serves the town for grades 7 - 12 as well as several surrounding towns for grades 9 - 12.
Thetford and its surrounding villages offer a rural lifestyle yet the convenience of Interstate 91 allows easy access to all towns in the Upper Valley.
