Dartmouth Night and Homecoming ~
October 21th - 22nd
In October, first-year students gear up to participate in a Dartmouth tradition-the Dartmouth
Night dash around the Homecoming bonfire. Dartmouth Night was inaugurated by Dartmouth President
William Jewett Tucker in September of 1895 to celebrate the accomplishments of alumni, "promote
class spirit and ... initiate freshmen into the community." Dartmouth Night has evolved over the
years to include a bonfire, a homecoming celebration, and, the next day, a football game.
|
|
The bonfire is constructed of 6x6 timbers of rough cut pine and designed to ensure safety.
The base is shaped into a six-pointed star 33 layers tall, followed by a hexagon 22 layers tall, and
topped by a 10-layer square. The 65-tier structure is then filled with old pallets for easy
burning. Keeping with tradition, the bonfire is still built by first-year students with
construction overseen by the College.
Dartmouth Night is Friday, Oct. 21 with the highlight being the famous Bonfire On the Green at 8:30pm
Homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 22 with many sporting events throughout the day including the 1:30 pm Football vs. Columbia at Memorial Field
For more information visit: Dartmouth night-homecoming

This just in...a dastardly new foe has come onto the scene, hoping to foil the good people of
Heroville, and her name is Irene. But fear not! Our heroes have a cleverly conceived plan--cleverly
named Plan B--to beat Irene to her punch churning up a Saturday event that'll knock your socks off

Awards to follow
Although we will not be offering the Half Marathon component of the event as an option on Saturday, we encourage people to run the 5K or run the 13.1 miles virtually, at a time and location of their choosing. Send us your "official" time and photos, and we will gladly post on our website!
We understand this may not work for everyone, but with heroic efforts from all the dedicated volunteers and participants let's show Irene why we're the "Little Community That Could."
Due to this change, we are closing online registration immediately and welcome same day registration beginning at 3pm on the Dartmouth Green.

The 30th Annual Prouty & 4th Prouty Ultimate
July 8-9, 2011 in Hanover & Manchester*, NH
Thirty years ago, four Cancer Center nurses rode 100 miles through
New Hampshire’s White Mountains. They rode to honor their patient,
Audrey Prouty and raised $4,000 for research at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Norris Cotton Cancer Center. For this year’s 30th Annual Prouty,
5,000 participants and 1,000 volunteers will come together in the
Connecticut River Valley to pay tribute to the many, many people, like
Audrey, who’ve battled cancer; and to continue the important work of
bringing an end to cancer. Join your neighbors, friends and the
community- come PROUTY!
|
|
All money raised supports cancer research and patient services at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
Funds raised by The Prouty support Cancer Center researchers and
clinicians who are working on innovative ways to prevent, diagnose,
treat and hopefully, one day, cure cancer. Research conducted at
Norris Cotton Cancer Center affects patient treatments around the
world.
Please join Team Coldwell Banker-Redpath in supporting this critically
important cause.
YOU have the power to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

What is a Conventional Loan?
A conventional loan is a loan that's not guaranteed or insured by the federal government
(like VA or FHA loans). The majority of conventional loans are underwritten through
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which are stockholder-owned corporations and not part of the
federal government. Although, since September 2008, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have
operated in conservatorship of the Federal Housing Finance Authority (FHFA), enabling
them to fund their operations.

Just a quick comment from Ned Redpath...
As has been the case for the past four years, the value side of any real estate transaction favors the Buyers.
Today that fact is more true than ever before and your opportunities, as a Buyer, are outstanding though they could be short lived. To your advantage is a very strong inventory with many quality selections, a price base that, in most cases, is on the bottom and represents an outstanding value for dollar paid and, historically low mortgage interest rates for qualified Buyers that could save you tens of thousands of dollars per year.
|
|
|
This scenario is apt to change rapidly as more and more Buyers recognize the fabulous opportunities they have in today’s real estate market. As activity increases inventory will decrease, thus numerous selections are eliminated and with less to choose from the prices tend to increase.
As more Buyers enter the market, competition for properties will increase therefore the demand will automatically create a higher eventual selling price. Because of the competition your negotiating edge is lessened.
And, finally, as the real estate market improves and the general economy becomes far more positive, mortgage interest rates will increase somewhat thus eliminating the savings you would have received previously.
All in all, NOW IS THE TIME FOR BUYERS TO TAKE ACTION, GET INTO THE REAL ESTATE MARKET AND BEGIN YOUR BUYING PROCESS BEFORE YOU MISS EXISTING OPPORTUNITIES.
Call your agent today, see what is available that will meet your family’s needs, discuss financing with a local professional and take advantage of the opportunities while they are still here for you.
